Curve Cafe & Bar, at the Vibe Hotel Sydney on Goulburn Street in the city is a breakfast hotspot. Why? It is tricky to pinpoint exactly why, however this establishment provides a surprisingly great breakfast on a Friday morning, or on any given weekend.
For starters, the service was quite prompt and efficient. Before we (a small group of three) were given an opportunity to take in the entire menu, we were attended to. My only regret is forgetting to ask for a jug of water to share. The barista there is quite good. My latte was well brewed with great aromas and just the right amount of milk. Fantastic. It turns out that the hotel's previous food and beverage supervisor was on duty, and this would also explain why. This person has won a few hotel and hospitality awards, and was recently promoted to hotel assistant manager at this Vibe Hotel.
Even with the latte alone I was content. The person sitting opposite me went for the wood fire honey granola with yoghurt and fresh fruit ($9) and it looked divine. We ended up asking for more berries, they were so fresh, tasty and divine. Two of us went for the bircher muesli cup with sweet style yoghurt, Australian honey and fresh berries ($11) and I was struggling to finish mine, the muesli was so filling. If I had left breakfast an hour later, it would be called brunch, and therefore I would not have left half of my dish uneaten. That way lunch would have also been taken care of. It appeared to be a small serving when it was presented to me, so I had that feeling that I would be feeling quite hungry afterwards. Not on your life, that was an illusion.
Expect a filling, hearty breakfast. The cafe area is separate to the restaurant area where the buffet breakfasts are enjoyed. There are trendy seats and ample reading materials to enjoy. The welcoming bar is quite funky, and despite appearing to be cluttered is neat and well organised. This is one funky cafe only moments away from colourful couches in the hotel's check in area.
Asking for extra berries was a smart decision on this occasion
