Enjoy a Wicked Curry at Curryville
If you are craving a delicious, fresh, authentic curry, head to
Curryville in Morningside. A group of friends have a 'curry club', trying out a different curry restaurant in the city each week and the consensus was that this is one of the best. Don't be put off by the location and functional decor. Situated on the busy Wynnum Road, with fluorescent strip lighting, it would be easy to bypass the place for somewhere trendier. However, the food is fantastic and it's definitely worth a visit, even just to read the very amusingly written menu. How about trying chef Pervez's signature dish, Lamb Sagwala ("
Surely this is food for the gods. This is one recipe the gods want back") or the Chicken Hai Hai ("
Without a doubt this is Australia's hottest curry. To eat it you must sign a declaration. With lots of fine print")
Every curry is cooked fresh and if you peek into the kitchen you'll see all the jars of exotic spices which are slow roasted or fried to perfection for each dish. The chef is happy to tailor your curry just how you like it - changing the degree of spiciness, amount of dairy, or vegetables used.
For Indian cooking enthusiasts, Curryville also offers the "Chef At Your Table" experience (bookings essential). For tables of at least four people, one of the diners can join the chef in the kitchen, learn how to prepare the spices and help prepare the main courses for the party.
Curryville is open every day between 5pm - 9pm. It is BYO and you can pick up some beers across the road at Down Under Cellars. For more information, see
