Fun For All Ages On Currumbin Creek
Currumbin is known for its beautiful surf beach but for those who like the sun and the sand without the surf, Currumbin has a hidden gem. It's a natural, protected playground along the beautiful Currumbin Creek waterway, where you can relax on the sand, swim and play in the shallow water or take part in active water sports, particularly kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding.

For day trippers, the real surprise, just a hop, skip and a jump away from the water's edge at 2 Thrower Dr. Currumbin, is the family run business, Currumbin Boatshed Bar & Diner that offers casual meals, snacks and refreshments as well as more formal dining.
If it's water activities you want then it's the perfect place to visit with friends, kids or grandkids because directly in front of the restaurant and diner (the locals call it a kiosk) there are shady trees, a shallow creek for the kids to play in and sand on which to spread out your towels and picnic blanket.
The diner or kiosk caters to those who want a takeaway coffee or snack
And there's good takeaway coffee for the adults as well as snacks and casual meals to suit all members of the family.
The coffee and cake special is $8. I had gluten free orange and almond cake with mixed berries.
For the more adventurous, kayaks and paddleboards can be hired from Currumbin Boatshed Bait & Tackle, next door to the restaurant. My 2 young grandchildren had their first stand-up paddle boarding experience there as they shared a board. It took about 10 minutes for them to get the hang of it as they took turns paddling while the other one sat at the front of the board. All went well, although towards the end of the hour my playful grandson had fun wobbling the board as he sat at the front, in an attempt to upend his older sister. All agreed it was worth the $15 for an hour of fun. On the other side of the Boatshed Bar and Diner is Casual Coastal Style where you can hire a tinnie or buy beach style decor items.

However, you don't have to get wet and sandy to enjoy Currumbin Creek. You can enjoy the beauty of the creek and watch the activities from the deck or the outdoor tables while you relax over a coffee, snack or meal at the Boatshed Bar & Diner.
There's always lots of activity on the creek.
Weekends breakfast is available from 7am. Saturday and Sunday from 2pm-5pm the focus in the Boatshed Bar is on live music, cocktails and Happy Hour. Full bar facilities and dining are available until 9pm Wednesday-Saturday. The menu includes chargrilled steaks, fish, ribs, platters to share, seafood and salads.
The more formal dining room still has a laid back feel.
Currumbin Boatshed & Bar is open Wednesday-Friday 11.30am-9pm. Saturday 7am-9pm Sunday 7am-5pm. There is a second story space for hire that is suitable for workshops, training sessions etc. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org Currumbin Bait & Tackle is open every day 7am-5pm with extended hours in summer. What a great little place Anaya. It isn't that often you find a pleasant creek side spot with all those amenities. I can see how much fun the kids would have on the paddle boards and I expect it is easier and safer than it is in the ocean. I can imagine sitting at the kisok with a coffee and just enjoying the atmosphere.
