The newest addition to Coochiemudlo Island is the Curlew Art Gallery. Situated upstairs behind the Curlew Cafe (opposite the ferry) in its new purpose-built space is a little gallery showcasing an amazing range of talent.
The gallery itself is light and airy with beautiful polished floors. The brainchild of cafe owner Caroline Brammer it is run by the Coochiemudlo Artisans Collective. It is a welcome addition to the Island which is home to many artistic people.
Although the Galley has only been open a few weeks, it has already had many visitors and enjoyed a pleasing number of sales.
The quality of the installations is very high. Paintings in a range of styles, collages, basket work, mosaics, cards and much much more.
Sunday morning you can visit the Artisan Alley pop up shop from 8.30 to 1.30.
While you're there, check out the
Curlew Cafe . If you remember the old kiosk you will never believe this is the same place! It has been revamped and has an ever-growing range of local produce. There are a huge variety of delicious snacks and meals, as well as grocery items including fruit, veg and meat. I love the range of Fable Ladle jams, sauces, curries and other goodies. My favourite (so far) is capsicum and jalapeno jam which is absolute heaven with Brie cheese and crackers. Open 8.30 - 3pm. Open till 7.30 Fridays for dinner.
