Oxfam Second Hand Bookshop is a haven for book lovers. It also campaigns for social justice and environmental issues. For the upcoming World Food Day they will be highlighting world hunger. Fiona from Oxfam bookshop states one in eight people go to bed hungry every night and climate change is now the biggest threat to food security. However there are things we can do to ensure everyone gets enough to eat.
Visitors are invited to the Oxfam Second Hand Bookshop to enjoy some beautiful free homemade cupcakes. These will be made with local ingredients. Oxfam are promoting how by making a few small changes to our eating habits we can help in the fight against hunger.
While visiting have a look at the loads of book bargains available too. This second hand bookshop has a varied and eclectic range. From current best sellers to vintage titles. Books are a fountain of knowledge, and knowledge is power. But conversely as Stephen Fry says, If ignorance is bliss, why aren't there more happy people in the world?
This event is being held as part of Oxfam Australia's October campaign EAT LOCAL FEED GLOBAL. Invite your friends along and fight hunger with a cupcake and yes, it is possible to have your cake and eat it too! The organisers would love to see as many people as possible on the day.
