I chanced upon this hidden gem in the backstreets of Graceville, en route to another destination - it must've been my lucky day. The Cup Cake Taste is a small, Brisbane-based business that has been run since mid 2007 by talented Sammy Gollschewski, a cake artist. All cupcakes are handcrafted with love, and are aesthetic in appearance and delicious in taste - what's not to love?

The Cup Cake Taste has a wide array of cupcakes, both standard and mini sizes, available in store. Standard cupcakes are $4.00 each (or $18.50 for 5), and mini cupcakes are $1.90 each (or $9.00 for 5). They also have other goodies available, including muffins, ice creams, brownies, cookies, chocolate, and sweets. There's bound to be something that suits your taste.

I opted for 5 mini cupcakes - Cotton Candy, Cookies and Cream, Choc Rainbow, Freckle Fantasy, and Malt Madness. They were absolutely divine, and taste even better than they look. They were moist and sweet, but not overly so, which I find is the case with many of the cupcakes and cakes that I eat. Sammy is indeed one very talented woman.

Best of all (at least for me), The Cup Cake Taste has cupcakes and other goodies for pups too. Courtesy of Pop's Pupcakes , The Cup Cake Taste sells 'pupcookies' and 'pupchocs' at extremely reasonable prices at $1 and $2.50 per small bag respectively. They also sell apple, honey, and peanut butter cupcakes at $2 per cupcake - yum! Eddy, being the lucky boy that he is, of course got one of each treat available.

For those of you wanting something extra special, The Cup Cake Taste does do custom made cupcakes, from baby showers to weddings, birthdays and corporate events. Examples of their work can be seen in the gallery on their website, as well as on the walls of their shop. I was most impressed by Sammy's work.

Being a cupcake shop and an espresso bar, The Cup Cake Taste, of course, also has everyone's best friend in the morning: caffiene. They sell all the standard coffees, as well as teas and cold drinks, such as milkshakes. For those with little ones, there is also a separate menu for kid's drinks. I opted for a hot chocolate, and I have to say, it was as good as the 5 mini cupcakes I had just devoured.

They also sell DIY toast, which I think is a unique idea. After all, you're the only one who can make toast just the way you like it.

The Cup Cake Taste has heaps of baking related products for sale, including handmade toppers. In addition, they also have heaps of gnome and gnome-related merchandise for sale in store. Not sure why this is, though.

There is both indoor and outdoor seating available, although being quite a small shop, seating is quite limited. In addition to two tables outside, there are also multiple small stools that you could sit on, including cute mushroom and gnome ones that would be perfect for the little ones, for those who have children.

Thank you so much for your friendly service and quality cupcakes. Eddy and I were so lucky to have come across your shop by chance. I will definitely be ordering custom cupcakes here the next time I have a reason to celebrate. If only I found you guys before Eddy had his 1st birthday last week.
