Bush Animal Weaving Workshops - Ages 3+ years
Come and join Ronnie Jordan a Kalkadoon Pitta Pitta woman who will share her traditional ecological knowledge with you. Enjoy a hands-on experience where you and your child can each create a woven bush animal.
The workshop inspires a connection to Aboriginal culture, and both children and adults will learn techniques of the age-old art of traditional weaving. All materials of wool and straw will be supplied. Plus you'll receive a weaving pack to take home. Do note that children aged 3-7 years must be accompanied by a participating adult.
Get your tickets here , ($59.11 adults and $32.74 ages 3-12 yrs), and choose from four workshops on
18 & 19 April 2024; one at 10am and another at 1pm on each date - runs for two hours each at the Banksia Centre, Australian National Botanic Gardens, Clunies Ross St, Acton, ACT. Before you begin, why not get in a little early and explore the Gardens where you might be inspired to create something truly unique!
Traditional Weaving Workshop - Ages 15+ years
Ronnie will also be running the
aged 15+ workshop on
Saturday 20 April 2024 from 10am to 1pm at the same venue as the above children's workshops.
See here for tickets at $149.55 for ages 15+ years. Ronnie is a qualified professional weaver and artist and has delivered weaving and art workshops to government agencies, community groups, schools, events and corporations. This event is hands-on as above, giving you a sense of connection and the opportunity to learn to connect to the oldest living culture in the world. All materials are included (raffia and natural fibres). Each participant will receive a weaving pack to take home, which includes materials, tote bag, a full weaving guide, and a needle.
