Cultivating Emotional Balance (CEB) is an evidence-based training programme which offers participants the skills to reduce emotional responses that can be destructive to oneself and others and help enhance positive states of compassion, empathy, altruism and pro-social behaviour.

The programme is secular and combines ancient contemplative skills with ground-breaking science.

The programme is the result of a dialogue between bio-behavioral scientists studying emotion and the Dalai Lama in March 2000. Professor Paul Ekman, a world renowned psychologist within the field of emotions and Dr Alan Wallace, a highly respected scholar of contemplative traditions, then went on to develop the unique programme.

This January and February, the Hayagriva Buddhist Centre, Perth (HBC) and Hospice of Mother Tara, Bunbury (HMT) are jointly hosting a CEB course in WA.

The course will be taught by Corey Jackson, who left his career as a jazz musician in Toronto in 2003 to study Buddhist philosophy, meditation and Tibetan language in India.

Corey is a certified CEB teacher and currently majors in Psychology and Sanskrit at the University of Sydney and is the Tibetan interpreter at Vajrayana Institute. He regularly teaches CEB courses in Sydney and around Australia.

Corey will be presenting the following courses in WA this summer:

  • Introductory Course Perth: 10 and 17 Jan, 10am-6pm at Hayagriva Buddhist Centre

  • Introductory Course Bunbury: 11 and 18 Jan, 9am-5pm at Hospice of Mother Tara
