Cullen Bay beach is only 5 minutes drive from Darwin CBD and plenty of parking spots are available here. You can also take the bus to Cullen Bay beach or ride your bike, which will be good exercise.



From the car park, you can walk on a sloped footpath that leads you to a green reserve with a well-maintained lawn. There are steps that go up to the lawn area from the car park. Some seating is provided alongside the lawn under shady trees.



As you walk down the beach, which is only about 250 metres long, you can see two seawall-groynes at the ends of the beach and backed by a continuous rubble wall. On the eastern side of the beach, there is the lock-controlled Cullen Bay harbour, busy with boats in and out.



Cullen Bay beach is Darwin's newest beach, constructed in the mid-1990s as part of the redevelopment of Cullen Bay, which replaced the tidal flats and mangroves. is a popular area for dog walkers and tourists and a good fishing spot.



The sandy area of Cullen Bay beach is good for strolling around while enjoying the sea breeze. You can see children busy building sand castles or collecting white pebbles that can be used for rock painting .



is un-patrolled beach area. Be sun smart while you enjoy as there is no shade on the beach area.
