Cuban Fury has been getting mixed reviews. While it isn't a laugh a minute film, you can certainly expect to be smiling most of the time.
Nick Frost is excellent, albeit a little unbelievable as Bruce, a former salsa dancing prodigy. After meeting his new, attractive boss, played by Rashida Jones, Bruce puts on his dancing shoes again in order to try and impress her.
Even though there is a romantic storyline, Cuban Fury is actually about a man stuck in a rut. We watch him struggle to cast off the abuse and belittling comments of his co-worker, played by Chris O'Dowd, while Bruce tries to gain confidence in himself again.
A lovely element of the movie is the development of the relationship with Bruce's sister. Another absolute standout was Kayvan Novak as Bejan, a flamboyant salsa dancer who has some very funny lines, and really makes the character his own.
The movie does venture into the ridiculous – most notably with a one-on-one dance off fight between the Bruce and his antagonist. However, the banter between the characters and the well-meaning plot make this an entertaining film.
