Crystallography has paved the way for many huge advances in human life, including the structure of DNA, the design of effective medicines and even the strengthening the wings of planes. Today, crystallography is used every hour worldwide!
2014 is the International Year of Crystallography and this easy to understand 2-hour presentation entitled 'Crystallography: Making Matters Crystal Clear', will detail how the Australian Synchrotron provides x-ray crystallography techniques for Australian industrial and scientific researchers to help improve all of our lives.
This public lecture is being held as part of the ongoing Australian Synchrotron Speakers Series, and includes an optional viewing of the synchrotron machine and beam lines where the scientists bring the technique to life.*
This is a free event, however bookings are essential. There are two session options available (each include an optional tour): Morning Session 10:00am -12:00pm or Afternoon Session 14:00pm - 16:00pm.
The onsite staff cafe 'The Kitchen Synch' will be open for light snacks and drinks from 10am - 4pm on the day, at attendees own expense.
