My daughter's favourite is "Fireheart the Dragon" in Crystal Castle's playground. He is covered in chunks of Rose Quartz and other precious stones, which just adds to the mystique. The playground overlooks Byron Bay's hinterland and has a good cafe right next to it (always very important for mums and dads).
Actually, our whole family love the Crystal Castle experience and they are expanding and growing more every time we visit. We always come home with a new crystal (think Rainbow Obsidian Hearts or Saharan desert fossils). This magical place is around 2 hours south of Brisbane and the owners have transformed a vacant cow pasture into a sub-tropical rain forest sanctuary.
The paths are lined with massive crystals and statues of many deities dot the forest. Ganesh the elephant god, Buddha Shakyamuni, Avalokiteshevara, and Lakshmi are covered in money offerings reminiscent of any temple in Asia. The best part is that the money is all donated to Tibetan refugees (orphans, nuns and monks) in India.
Crystal Castle is a must for families with children interested in shiny, pretty crystals - they will just be amazed.
