Crumble Top is the latest cafe to open on the strip of eateries at King Street, Newtown. Crumble Top opened five months ago and is quickly gaining in reputation as a
winning speciality dessert cafe. Owner, Luke Stack, has been developing his concept of crumbles for over two years prior to opening his establishment. He said this
concept has not been done in Australia before, which is to design your own crumble, your 'signature' dessert, and have it baked to order.

Luke is an experienced chef having left Sydney as a 23 year old to become skilled in a job he loves. He worked two years as a sous chef for celebrity chef, Gordon Ramsay, in London. Then worked once again for Gordon Ramsay in Italy, then in a two-michelen star restaurant in Paris and after that, in Dubai. When I heard about this cafe, I drove 30 minutes to get my crumble fix.

There is quite a range of crumbles to choose from. Customers can choose fruit bases or pudding bases, then choose the delicious crumble topping. A choice of ice cream is also part of this wonderful package, which is placed separately to the crumble and base. A variety of yummy sauces are chosen to complete this dessert meal.

I'm very traditional with my crumbles so I chose the Apple and Rhubarb base, with White Chocolate and Macadamia crumble, Vanilla Bean ice cream, plus a Vanilla Custard sauce. This delectable crumble was $13.95. It's placed in a funky box which a friend of Luke's designed. It was a substantial and enjoyable meal.

Crumble Top is a modern, rustic cafe. The interior of this eatery is an interesting mix of fun wall furnishings and a board for writing your thoughts or just plain doodling.
