See Sydney at its brightest
The sails of the Sydney Opera House lit up during Vivid Sydney.
Vivid Sydney is on again. It starts on 22 May, 2015 and runs until 8 June. This fabulous array of light, music and interactive installations really does light up Sydney's CBD, including Darling Harbour, the Opera House, the Town Hall and, of course, the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
Last year a group of us decided to see Vivid by cruising the harbour. One of my friends organised a cruise from the Opera House and for one hour we cruised and saw the wonderful lights from the water with champagne in hand. Needless to say it was a great start to a good night for all of us.
Once the cruise was over we walked up towards the Town Hall enjoying all the installations along the way. Even though the walk was good, for me the highlight of the night was the cruise.
Captain Cook Cruises offer one hour cruises and they depart from King Street Wharf 1 at Darling Harbour. Their Vivid Lights cruises depart at 5.30pm, 6.45pm, 7pm, 8pm and 8.15pm and costs start at $29 for adults. They also offer dinner cruises during the festival. Check the website for more details.
Majestic Cruises offer a dinner cruise on a luxury catamaran. This is a 3 hour cruise and includes a buffet. It departs from King Street Wharf 5. There is an online special for this cruise so check out their website.
There are many ways to enjoy Vivid Sydney. It's an 18 day festival but if you can, think about doing a harbour cruise because seeing Sydney all brightened up is just fabulous.
