Visitors to Melbourne are spoilt for choices when it comes to places to stay. Although I live in the outer suburbs of Melbourne, recently, my family and I decided to stay in the city for a weekend and picked Crown Promenade as our choice for accommodation.
Centrally located in the CBD, the Promenade is a great place to stay
Guests at the Promenade are in for a luxurious treat with a touch of homely comforts. As you drive in, you will be welcomed by friendly staff who will provide you with valet parking for the duration of your stay.
The lobby is welcoming with plenty of comfortable seating for family members while you check-in. There are two options of city views from the rooms: one of the Yarra River, and the other of the Port Phillip Bay. We requested for the Yarra River views, and were not disappointed. Our room, being on the 17th floor gave us stunning views through ceiling high windows.
The mini-bar was filled with yummy snacks and the beds were comfortable. With affordable room-service, Foxtel channels and free wi-fi we could have easily spent the weekend in our room but of course, we wanted to explore the place and couldn't wait to get out and about.
There is an edge pool/spa and a gym/weight-lifting room on level three. The reception at the pool not only provides snacks but you can also buy a swim suit, in case you forget to bring it along. You can also help yourself to fresh towels each time you want a swim. The pool overlooks the Yarra River and the views are stunning, especially at night.
After a swim, you can take a shower in the changing rooms conveniently located on level three, or go to your room. We found ourselves famished after spending a couple of hours at the pool, so we went looking for some food.
If you are looking for a fine-dining experience, the Crown Complex has a variety of restaurants, some of which are inside the casino so children are not allowed. However, if you are on a budget, the food court has many options from around the world. The food court is always hustling and bustling with visitors and guests who visit the Crown Complex from all around Melbourne and beyond.
There are many ways to entertain yourself at the Crown, for example, the Village Cinemas, Bowling, Galactic Circus (an arcade), day spa, shopping, and of course the casino. In the evening, there is a fire show at the top of every hour along the banks of the Yarra. The Southbank is a happening place and even a simple stroll will keep you entertained.
Highly recommended is to venture outside the Crown Complex as it is conveniently located close to many Melbourne attractions, such as the Eureka Tower, Melbourne Convention Centre, South Wharf DFO, Melbourne SeaLife, Melbourne Arts Centre, Docklands, Boyd Community Hub and you can even take a short boat ride to Williamstown. There are many cafes, restaurants, boutique shops waiting to be discovered around the area.
The Crown Complex consists of three main buildings: the Crown Towers, Crown Metropol and Crown Promenade. All three are interconnected by bridges and tunnels which are especially convenient on rainy days.
Whether you choose to stay for a weekend or extend your visit, your Crown Promenade experience will be an experience to remember.
