Crown Point Ridge is only 700 metres as it begins at Allambi Road and turns through 180 degrees to end at St. Andrews Drive.

It is a well-established area, part of the original Chirnside Park development of the 1960s. Consequently, many of the gardens feature old favourites of the era. Camellias and Azaleas being the two most popular.

There were several quite colourful blooms to attract the eye. The Alstroemeria Lily was spectacular with its red petals, green leaves and internal markings.

A young lady stood guard in one garden while a concrete F.J. Holden ute moonlighted as a planter box.

Two red flowers demanded attention in the shape of a large fuchsia plant and a developing Grevillea.

An interesting ground cover was the Convolvulus creeper with its mauve colours.

A particular attractive large bush was the Abelia bush with its subtle colours. The Iris flower with its distinctive triangle shape and one bloom per stalk sometimes look a little ungainly, but on close inspection they are beautiful.

Old fashioned lamps on poles are becoming a feature of many gardens and one in Crown Point Ridge has two.

Bird sightings were restricted to many magpies, always a delight to watch when they are on the ground looking for food.

A seemingly dead mailbox was propped up against a rock retaining wall looking, like it was a long time between letters.

Walking past a large green bush a group of yellow leaves looked a little out of place but attractive.

No garden would be complete without a few daisies. These are perennials and add colour to any garden. They are also very low maintenance.

At the St. Andrews Drive end, you have the opportunity for two other interesting street walks. St. Andrews Drive itself or Botanica Drive. Botanica Drive is particularly recommended with its Botanica Reserve and unusual playground and an extended walk through parkland.

It's a short walk that leads to longer ones.
