One of the various restaurants located along Henley Beach Road in Torrensville, Crossover Vietnamese Restaurant , as its name suggests, specialises in Vietnamese cuisine. The dishes range from those for a single dinner to bigger dishes ideal for sharing.

While not apparent from the dish’s name, the pork in the Sticky Pork Salad is roast pork, which was not too tough and had a lovely crisp crackling. The tamarind sauce had a delectable tangy taste with a hint of sweetness, and the consistency did not mar the crispiness of the pork. The quantity of apple salad was very generous, and mint leaves added a refreshing flavour.

When it was presented at the table, the Tea Smoked Duck was under a cover, which was then lifted to let diners take in the delectable smoky aroma. The flesh of the duck was juicy with the degree of smoky flavour that you would expect. The skin of the duck had a nice crispiness to set off the flesh. While tasty enough by itself, the hoisin dipping sauce was served alongside the duck.

One of the lunch specials available between 11 am and 3 pm, the prawns in the Salt and Pepper Prawns with Rice retained its texture and the crisp coating contrasted nicely with the flesh. The salt and pepper seasoning was not salty and had chilli for a hint of heat. Vegetables in garlic sauce were also included to make the dish a complete meal for one.

The deep-fried pieces of pork in the Sweet and Sour Pork were cooked just right. The size of the pieces was big enough to make eating the dish a satisfying experience. Capsicum, onions and pineapple provided a contrast of texture and the sweet and sour sauce was not too sweet. We liked that the sauce did not make the coating of the pork soggy.

The vegetables in the Tofu and Mix Vegetables in Garlic retained some bite to them, and the chunks of tofu complemented them nicely. The garlic sauce that they were cooked in had a subtle garlic flavour, and there was enough sauce to ensure the dish was not dry. If you prefer a sauce with a stronger flavour, curry or peanut satay sauce can be chosen instead.

The long beans in the Long Beans with XO Sauce were cooked as well as the vegetables in the Tofu and Mix Vegetables in Garlic, and had a vibrant green colour. XO sauce made the dish flavoursome. The degree of spiciness is suitable for those not used to spicy foods. As an alternative option, the green beans can be cooked in garlic sauce.

The restaurant was roomy with the decor giving it a casual feel. Free Vegetarian Spring Rolls are provided with pick up takeaway orders that are over $70.
