Ever wondered how fun
cross-stitching can be? Most people probably think it's boring and for old ladies who have nothing to do, but being a 23 year old student, I think it's got to be my favourite hobby.
I enjoy cross stitching whenever I have free time and you can take it everywhere with you, to the beach, by the swimming pool, on picnics and of course laying down in your backyard or balcony as you relax and stitch different fun patterns.
As it says on
Dr Wikipedia, cross stitching is 'a popular form of counted-thread embroidery in which X-shaped stitches in a tiled, raster-like pattern are used to form a picture'.
There are many different pictures which are already printed on the material and you just have to go over them with thread, or if you want to have a bit of a challange, you can get a picture and copy by looking at it and stitching on completely bare material.
There are different websites which provide you with all the information to get started and if you visit a craft shop near you or even Spotlight, you can choose from a large variety of patterns and pictures.
It would be better to start of with more simple pattern that does not include too many details, and later you can work your way up to a whole storyline and fantasy picture made by yourself.
These are great as presents, souvenirs for your home and even to sell them on Ebay or garage sales, heaps of people love them as they are very traditional sources of home decorations.
