Spudtakular Potato Festival is a must attend event
Who doesn't love that ever so versatile potato, with its various forms and different types! There is so much you can do with this humble vegetable and if you want to learn more and just have a fun day, then make sure you read on.

Celebrating over 150 years of growing potatoes high on the Southern Tableland of NSW, the Crookwell Potato Festival 2018 is booked in with the main events happening on Saturday 12th of May.

The different varieties of potatoes are quite amazing and these include Pontiac, Sebago, Kennebec, Atlantic, Coliban, Desiree, Rideau, Granola, Roseval, Pink Fir Apple, Nicola, King Edward, Red la Soda, Ratte, and Ruby Lou.

Gardening expert and well-known TV personality, Costa Georgiadis will be there! Costa is a landscape architect with a passion for teaching people about the natural world through horticulture and with a special focus on growing healthy plants in healthy soils.

Costa, from ABC's Gardening Australia series, will help children plant some seedlings and teach them about companion planting.

The String Family will perform again at the 2018 Crookwell Potato Festival. This group features two cellos, two violins, voice and percussion. The String Family incorporate their unique story of life on the road as Australian "musical gypsies" and the performance will include toe-tapping Celtic folk and classical music.

During their career, they have received numerous awards for their performances and songwriting capabilities including:
New Australian Celtic Talent of the Year 2017
Australian Celtic Song of the year 2017
Australian National Busking Champions

Also appearing on the day will be the Camden Community Band, soloists Andrew Drummond and Jaryd Hofman, and The Honey Sippers. There will also be buskers on the main street during the day.

For the children and all the way from Adelaide will be the famous "Bubbleman", who will entertain the kids with his amazing giant bubbles.

Great fun with the "Bubbleman"

There will also be heaps of market stalls including soaps and candles, hats, clothing, garden art, hand-forged ironware, Italian pottery, honey, alpaca and lavender products, and handmade jewellery.

You will not go hungry at this event as there will be several food stalls who will be selling delicious potato dishes, such as filled baked potatoes, wedges and twisty potatoes, and there will be potatoes for sale, of course!

Entry to the showground and main events on Saturday will be $5 from 9 am to 3 pm. There will be an option of an all-inclusive ticket, which will cover entry to several other activities in the area over the weekend and this price is still to be determined at the date of publishing.

Crookwell is located on the top of the range in the beautiful Southern Tablelands of NSW and just an hour and half north of Canberra via Gundaroo and Gunning.

It is also under 3 hours from Sydney via Goulburn and Crookwell is ideally situated on the road between the Orange/Bathurst region and Goulburn.

It is also easily accessible from the Blue Mountains via the Tablelands Way through Oberon and Taralga or from the west along the Boorowa Rd.
