The age-old art of crochet is one of this year's hottest trends, from delightful homewares and cosy throws to vibrant scarves and beanies - crochet is everywhere!
And whilst it may seem like a complicated handicraft, it actually isn't. In fact, the creative crew at Classie can teach beginners basic crochet techniques in just one class.
Held near Town Hall, these interactive classes are open to all skill levels. Simply come along and join in the fun.
Over three fun-filled hours, your host will introduce you to the required equipment, common stitches and how to change colours. By the end of the class, you'll know how to do a double crochet, treble crochet, chain stitch and slip stitch!
As part of the experience, you'll also begin your first crochet project: choose from two alternative classes - Granny Square or Soft Bowl.
The classes are held in a social and supportive atmosphere with your host on hand to offer personalised advice and some handy tips and tricks.
In the Granny Squares class, acrylic yarn will be used to begin a granny square. You can continue practising this new found skill at home and perhaps join additional granny squares to create a blanket or tea cosy.
In the Soft Bowl class, eco-friendly recycled t-shirt yarn will be crocheted to create a personalised soft bowl, which can be used for almost anything. It makes for a great gift idea for friends and family.
All the required equipment, including an aluminium crochet hook, sample patterns and appropriate yarn will be provided.
A complimentary standard-size non-alcoholic beverage is also included as part of the class price.
