A fun, simple and versatile craft

Brighten up your winter with some vibrant yarn bombing! Every winter around the city, beautiful knitted and crocheted pieces adorn trees, bike racks, chairs and statues.

If you have always admired these quirky and creative artworks in your local city streets, consider having a go yourself. Winter is the best time to get inspired and crafty and crochet is incredibly fun to learn.

The friendly crew at Classie offer a popular Crochet for Beginners workshop in the heart of Brisbane.

The interactive three hour workshop is held on Saturdays at 10am and is ideal for beginners as well as those who want to brush up on their crochet skills.

Held in a relaxed, social atmosphere, this delightful workshop will introduce you to double and treble crochets, chain stitches, slip stitches, their abbreviations, and how to crochet in the round.

By the end of the workshop, you'll have started your very own granny square, which can be extended into a runner, blanket or tea cosy.

The workshop is held in small numbers, so you can receive one on one guidance as well as handy tips and tricks.

Everything is provided too, including a hook, sample patterns and a ball of yarn.

This is a great workshop to do with your friends and or maybe your daughter or granddaughter (it is suitable for ages 12 and over)* and you are sure to meet some like-minded new friends on the day.

As you master your stitches, you will also enjoy a complimentary non-alcoholic beverage as part of the experience.

Choose from two experiences:

Beginners class $55 - Crochet materials and instruction included: learning how to do the crochet basics and how to make a Granny Square. These classes are smaller than the Meetups.

Meetup $35 - not recommended for beginners. For crocheters wanting to learn a new project (Instructors have pattern books to browse), taught a new technique or help with a current project. A $10 hook and yarn pack is available for those needing materials.

Bookings for Crochet for Beginners are now open and places are limited. Book now at or call 1300 32 22 32. Gift vouchers are also available.

* Children under 16yrs must be accompanied by an adult.
