If you enjoy crime novels, read these by Tess Gerritsen
Tess Gerritsen writes chilling mystery/murder books and these books are the kind that you have to go on reading to find out "who dun it"! They are generally very involved and mostly I have not had any idea who the murderer was.
Tess Gerritsen writes in a way that keeps you on the edge of your seat, and before you know it, you are halfway through the book, eagerly awaiting to see who the culprit really is!
She is the author of the well-known television series, Rizzoli & Isles starring Angie Harmon as police detective, Jane Rizzoli and Sasha Alexander as medical examiner, Dr. Maura Isles.
Not all her books are about this duo, and most of the books I have read of hers are medically based. This is possibly because Tess Gerritsen is also a physician and she therefore can write with knowledge about medical dramas.
Tess Gerritsen is also an anthropology undergraduate and has catalogued centuries-old human remains and she travels the world in her pursuit of this interest. I have not, by any means, read all of her books however so far, I have read about eight different ones, and have really enjoyed each one.
1. THE SURGEON This novel introduces detective Jane Rizzoli. In this book, the killer is targeting single women, torturing them before murdering them. Because of the way they are murdered, detective Jane Rizzoli suspects that he has been medically trained.
Detective Rizzoli discovers that years ago a young woman was assaulted in a similar manner however, she managed to get away and killed her attacker. Read this and you will find out the eventual plot, which is both interesting and fascinating!
2. THE BONE GARDEN This story begins with a human skull being dug up in a single lady's garden of her new home. Dr Maura Isles, the medical examiner is called in to investigate. She discovers that this skeleton is over a hundred years old.
The story goes on to tell how they find out who this skeleton is and it has flashbacks to the 1830's. This is also fascinating and has a few surprises along the way.
3. STOLEN This story is about the sinking of a cargo ship and the slaughtering of the ship's crew. It is about Jordan Tavistock, who finds himself caught up in the mystery and intrigue of these murders.
Together with Clea, who he does not know if he can trust, he needs to find out the circumstances of these murders.
This is another story along the similar lines of The Surgeon and once again, a very riveting story. Dr Claire Elliot has come to a town with her son and feels she is not wanted.
They have left another city, due to problems with her son, Noah.
Suddenly teenagers are "losing the plot" and attempting to kill people and Dr Elliot has to work out what the problem is. She is up against the town people, who do not like strangers. She tries to find out the medical explanation for these events and has to do this before her son and all she loves, is destroyed.
5. GIRL MISSING
This was Tess Gerritsen's first thriller and starts off with a young, beautiful corpse of a girl being found. The only clue to this grisly murder is a matchbox clutched in the hand of the deceased.
Kat Novak is investigating this and fears that the next murder will be herself, so she has to work fast to discover who is responsible for this and other murders.
These are just five of the many novels written by this author and all have been well worth reading.
