The annual Creswick Garden Lovers Weekend is on again. This year's event is being held on:

Saturday 11 November, 9.00am-5.00pm
Sunday 12 November, 9.00am-4.00pm

A delight for all green thumbs and garden lovers, this annual community event is now in its fourth year. Come and visit the historic Central Goldfields Region of Victoria and see a wide range of gardens and nurseries.

You'll be able to visit seven private gardens that will be opened up to the public and you can stop and have a chat to the creators. There will also be six outstanding commercial gardens and nurseries for you to explore and pick up some ideas for your own gardens.

The seven private gardens range from compact suburban backyards and a courtyard garden in town to larger rural gardens in the region. For details on the individual gardens open to the public, click here .

These hidden gems are filled with creativity and magic and are guaranteed to impress.

The commercial gardens for you to visit include:

Lambley Gardens and Nursery in Ascot
Creswick Nursery in Miss Northcott's Garden
Overwrought Sculpture Garden and Gallery at Blampied Brenlissa Nursery at Mount Rowan
Mistydowns Nursery
Newlyn Antiques and Cottage Garden in Newlyn
Bells Water Gardens in Newlyn , plus the
Maze House also near Newlyn .

The Annual Creswick Garden Club Flower Show will also be on at the Town Hall. Beautiful displays of a wide range of cut flowers, container plants, fruits and vegetables, floral art, homemade preserves, art and craft, and children's gardening and craft will be on display. There will also be a plant stall, basket weaving, glass and ceramic decorations and a raffle will be held during the show.

The flower show will be open Saturday from 2.30pm to 5.00pm, and Sunday from 10.00am to 4.00pm. Entry is free.

Local artist Di Lehne of DLehneArt , and local photographer, Jennie Boyd of Jennie Boyd Photos , are also holding an exhibition of garden-related paintings and photographs at the Red Fox Coffee Lounge over both days of the event. All paintings and photographs are for sale. Open Saturday and Sunday, 9.00am to 4.00pm

The Neighbourhood Centre at 19 Victoria Street in Creswick will be the point of contact for ticket sales, maps and general information. Adult entry fees are $5 per garden and children are free. Please note that there are no EFTPOS facilities at the venue, but there are two ATMs in town. Tickets can also be purchased in advance here .

The historic gold mining town of Creswick lies at the heart of the central goldfields, cradled between ancient volcanic hilltops and set amongst majestic eucalypts. This picturesque town has a resident population of more than 3,000 people.

Creswick is just 16kms north of Ballarat and approximately 122km from Melbourne. Why not make a weekend of it and stay a night or two? More information can be found here .
