So, I'm usually the first to admit that I'm a novice when it comes to all things French, and yes, this does include escargot. Quite frankly, the thought of eating snails scares me a little bit. However, I am fascinated by French culture, so when a friend suggested Creperie Le Triskel, a French creperie and café in the heart of the CBD, I immediately said 'Oui' (ah, maybe not such a rookie after all).
Centrally located in one of the busiest café and restaurant hubs in Melbourne, Le Triskel is a convivial, authentic French café that sits in the middle of Hardware Lane. I was somewhat tickled to find that the sign outside read 'Creperie Le Triskel - Arrogantly French', which I actually found to be refreshingly honest.
However, the vibe inside this small café is anything but arrogant. Rather, it exudes a cosy, charming French atmosphere, with vintage books lined up against the window and French music playing in the background. I knew I loved this place the minute I heard 'La Vie en Rose' filling the café. The staff are all French speaking and very pleasant. For those who are keen to practice their French (or if you're feeling particularly daring), there is a board above the kitchen area that instructs customers how to order a meal in French. Everything about this place screams authenticity, and it really feels as though you've just found yourself in a small part of France.
Le Triskel specialises in a range of sweet and savoury crepes, with simple traditional favourites such as mixed berry and Nutella crepes, to more decadent delights like strawberry with chocolate and ice cream. There are also vegetarian and gluten-free options so everyone can feel included. All crepes are made fresh on the spot, and are delivered promptly. There is also a wide range of hot and cold beverages, such as quality freshly roasted coffee, teas, juices and soft drinks.

You don't have to travel all the way to Europe to have a taste of some of the yummiest crepes, just steer yourself towards Hardware Lane and let this café sweep you off on a continental French adventure.
