Creme brulee lovers celebrate the French dessert
With a name like a Creme Brulee, there has to be a French connection; however, I do remember making it from a school cookery book.
Wikipedia states that the earliest known recipe appeared in a French cookbook in 1691 although the name "burnt cream" was used as an English translation. From that time, the dessert seemed to vanish from French cookbooks until around the 1980's when it became a favourite once again.

Creme Brulee is a rich creamy custard topped with a layer of hard caramel and is sure to tingle any taste buds.
