Learn to do self portraits with an artist
Painting can be a very relaxing pastime for many amateurs. It is a wonderful hobby and especially if you have an aptitude for drawing or painting. I cannot draw and it is one hobby I have only ever tried once and failed miserably! However, I know several people who just love to paint and are also very good at it.
Then there is the art of painting or drawing portraits - this is even harder as I would imagine it is difficult to get faces correct and find the right shading to make them look real.
Painting, printmaking, collage and drawing tools will be available for participants to use. This workshop is open to anyone wishing to attempt a different approach to the self-portrait. You will be required to bring a head and shoulders photo of yourself.
This class is kept small so you can have a lot of one-on-one time with Jade. The cost of the ticket includes a material cost of $25.00 per student.
This workshop will take place in the new dedicated workshop/exhibition space at in.cube8r, Prahran. It will be held on Saturday 25th May 2019 from 1.00 pm till 3.30 pm. The address is 116 Greville Street, Prahran. The cost of this workshop is from $184 to $205 and you can find out more information as well as make a booking at this link.
This workshop has minimum student registration requirements. If not enough students register for the event you will be contacted for a refund/exchange of your ticket. Refunds are not available, but you can credit your fee to another class from the same tutor at a later date. The ticket cost includes GST and materials. The workshop space is located upstairs in the building.
About The Tutor
Jade Lees-Pavey has been doing art for the past two decades and has recently launched 'Come Pinch with Me'. These are ceramic sessions for people to check out and explore their creativity with clay. Her approach to skill sharing is to saturate the atmosphere with a "can do attitude" and help each participant find their own way with the medium.
About inCube8r Gallery
In.cube8r gallery is a handmade emporium and emerging artist gallery which focuses on helping Melbourne makers learn and grow. Their workshops are just part of the offering that they provide for creatives.
In.cube8r is a handmade mecca and gallery for up and coming artists. There are more than 100 creatives who rent small cubes, shelves, racks and walls to exhibit their work and each one keeps 100% of every sale that is made…It is a retail environment where creatives come first.
Cubes cost them just a few dollars a day, making the idea accessible to even the most fledgeling makers. Many in.cube8r participants are parents of young children, retired people now able to do what they love, students, full-time artists and dabblers.
Participants sell a varied range of products including handcrafted jewellery, ceramics, clothing, accessories and fine-art prints and all keep 100% of every sale.
Their art-shows provide a place for supporters of the arts to experience works from some of Melbourne's emerging talent. They hold both group and solo shows which change every 2-3 weeks. They also have regular shopping nights and workshops.
It was established in 2007 on Smith Street in the heart of Fitzroy Victoria. In.cube8r has now expanded to the south-side suburb of Prahran to bring Melbourne's makers to a new audience.
