I am a retired English teacher who has retired from teaching but not from life, which I intend to live to the full. With all my hobbies, I'm busier now than ever with my art groups, small business and gardening.
Free tax information session for Etsy Members
For All EtsyUsers
There is roughly just over two months until tax time. Then trying to complete your return can become a daunting task with little bits of loose paper everywhere. Time to procrastinate and leave it for next week or the week after or even next year? There's a multitude of excuses that can be used. You don't want to have a fine but you don't want to pay more than necessary. Yet, as with all tax returns, there is a day of reckoning the tax man cometh. Don't despair, help is at hand.
"I don't like paying taxes, but I like sleeping at night."
It's difficult and confusing, especially if you are selling craft on Etsy. For example, should you claim as a hobby or a small business? You'll be able to find out about these and other questions at a free, informative session run by Diana Todd owner of Balance Tax. Diana is very conversant with taxation requirements already, having experience with other small business in creative areas. She can give advice, not only about doing your tax returns but also how to properly set your business up. Diana presents information in an easy to understand format. No more bits of loose paper. Diana is very approachable and will be running Q & A where queries can be answered. So, start saving up those questions. The website has more information about Diana and Tax Balance.

To add a little levity to what can be a taxing time;
"Only a fool and his money are easily parted. The rest of us wait until tax time", (?). Children may be deductible, but they are still taxing.
