Busy Kids are Happy Kids
With school holidays looming and the thought of long hours filled with children crying boredom or even worse, glued to various electronic outlets, it is nice to know there are still places to go where children can use their hands (constructively) and their imagination.

Tea and Bisque-it in Sandgate is such a place. A quirky little café and ceramic shop will keep your kids entertained for the better part of the day while you can join in the arty fun of it or simply sit back, relax and sip a well deserved coffee.

How it works:-

1. You or your child choose a ceramic piece (bisque) from the extensive range of fun and functional items.

2. Using your own design or one of many from a range of books provided for inspiration, you trace or sketch your design with a pencil.

3. Choosing from colours that are non-toxic and water based, you start painting.

4. Once finished, the ceramic will be glazed and fired and your masterpiece is ready for collection a few days later or they post it out to you if you can't collect.

It's really that simple and fun and teaches children to use creative skills that aren't always on the ready. It is also a great idea for children to create their own Christmas present for someone special (mum?).

Tea and Bisque-it is located at Shop 3 Sandgate Arcade, Cnr Brighton Rd & Cliff St, Sandgate, QLD 4017 and is open during school holidays from 10:00am until 2:00pm.

If you have young chefs at hand, Cutie Pies Baking School is a special treat kind of outing that doesn't involve theme parks. Your child gets to mix, bake, create and decorate their own baked goods during a step by step baking lesson, while you sit and relax with that blessed coffee or tea. Suitable for 2-5 years and 6-10 years, all ingredients are supplied and kids get to wear a Cutie Pie branded apron and bakers hat... very Heston Blumenthal. All baking utensils and recipes are child friendly and age appropriate and once again your child is creating something and taking ownership in that process of creation. Go to their website for more information including class times and cost here.
