A gorgeous showcase of one-of-a-kind glass items

On the weekend of Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd July 2018, the Creative Glass Guild of Queensland is proudly hosting its 24th Annual Exhibition at Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens Auditorium.

This year's theme is 'Poetry and Song' and the beauty and splendour of glass will be on full display over two exciting days with visitors treated to an outstanding display of exquisite glass creations, all hand-made by talented Guild members.

The exhibition will be open from 9am to 4pm daily and you will be invited to peruse and purchase a diverse range of original decorative and wearable works, including glass beads and jewellery, leadlight panels and Tiffany-style lamps, mosaic artworks and copperfoil boxes, fused and slumped glass plates, vases, Christmas ornaments and objects d'art. The items available for sale will be sold on a first come, first served basis.

Adding to the vibrant community atmosphere will be fun live demonstrations of beadmaking, mosaic techniques, glass cutting and leadlighting with Guild members, who will be happy to answer any questions you may have about the works and the techniques used to create them.

If you are feeling inspired, you can talk to the friendly tutors about the various courses available through the Guild and consider signing up for a class.

This family-friendly event is always popular with the wider community and attracts hundreds of visitors from near and far. Come along and view this year's winner of the 'Special Theme Award' and vote for the 'People's Choice Award'.

There will also be two raffles this year, one for an exotic necklace of hand-crafted glass beads and another for a beautiful prairie style table lamp made by our Leadlight and Copperfoil tutor, Jenny Keys. The Carina Men's Shed made and donated the wooden base so typical of this style.

A cafe with drinks and snacks is available on site also.

Entry is $5 for adults and children under the age of 12 are FREE. All are welcome to view this wonderful exhibition celebrating local artists. It's also a great opportunity to view the Brisbane Botanic Gardens as we head into spring!
