To celebrate International Day of People with Disability 2020, the Brotherhood of St. Laurence (BSL) is delivering an exciting FREE online program celebrating the diverse talents and abilities of people with disability in the community.

Held for one week, Thursday 3 December to Thursday 10 December 2020, Creative Control is an accessible online program of visual art, writing, theatre and film events - all available to experience in the comfort of your home.

Whether you have an interest in art, or just looking to try something new, Creative Control delivers unique experiences for everyone.

People, Bodies and Film Back to Back Theatre

Highlights include:

  • Creative Control Virtual Exhibition - In partnership with Arts Access Victoria, the works of visual artists with disability will be displayed as part of the Creative Control Virtual Exhibition.

    Seven Days of Writing - Experience the work of seven talented and diverse Australian writers across seven days with Writers Victoria.

  • Paper and Tape Escape Workshop - Paper and Tape Escape offers children a fun-filled creative session where they will learn to make their own paper adventures with Polyglot Theatre.

  • Telling Your Story: Writing Creative Non-Fiction with Fiona Murphy - In celebration of International Day of People with Disability, Writers Victoria is bringing you the chance to explore memoir, life writing and personal essays with award-winning writer and Publishability fellow, Fiona Murphy.

  • Creative and In Control Panel - Join Writers Victoria as they present a Zoom panel featuring insights and readings from four gifted Australian poets with disability.

  • People, Bodies and Film Back to Back Theatre - Over the last 30 years, Back to Back Theatre has made a body of work that questions the assumptions of what is possible in theatre, but also the assumptions we hold about ourselves and others.
