Perfume isn't something you usually associate with emotion but like many things involving the senses, scent can play a big role in how we feel.

In this Jamie Natural's workshop you will create your very own perfume. Something that will be inspired by music and emotion. Music can make emotion rise to the surface. It might be a piece that your mother was fond of. It might be a particular song that was playing when you were pregnant with your first child or just a melody that makes you feel energised.



For me, I have varied music tastes - all the way from classical Mozart to dark, heavy metal. I wasn't sure which I wanted to inspire me on the workshop day. Donna - the owner of Jamie Natural Health and Healing - has a very clever way of letting your subconscious decide what it wants. On this particular day, it seems, I wanted the heavy metal.

The next step is choosing the essential oils that will go into your creation. This process is interesting. You stand in front of a wooden cabinet that's filled with about 20 drawers. Donna explains that if we have the music playing or in my head while I'm choosing the oils, this will inspire my choice. So, without thinking too much about it, I point out drawers and Donna collects the oils from them.

We sit down with the oils and a carrier oil - like jojoba which has no scent. Then, in a small dish, we start mixing the oils - first with one drop and then increasing, smelling in between to see if the scent resonates with you and your chosen music.

The result is a perfume that represents you and is aligned to your "heart strings". You can wear this perfume while at work or whenever you like to inspire the emotion that's related to you and your piece of music.

You will create two different perfumes on the day and lunch will be included.

Donna says: "This is a particularly interesting workshop for dancers, musicians or lovers of music, as you can 'wear' and 'inhale' the music to which you are dancing, playing or performing. This heightens and affirms your connection to music - its rhythm, mood and style- and the musical and energetic connection between you and your partner, troupe, ensemble or band."

The next perfume workshop will be on Sunday 17th of June, 2018. Bring a friend or family member and share the experience.

A maximum of 4 people at any workshop for a fuller experience.
