Cranked is a little different to other cycling stores that have a coffee shop within them. This is because it is a coffee shop on its entirety. Right next door to Cranked is a cycling shop called Riders Choice, which has an extensive range of bicycles and bike gear.
The only challenge I had was choosing which business I should enter into first! Needless to say, the cycling store won as I chose to enter the cycling store and then into Cranked by an adjoining door to order my coffee (and carrot cake).
Not only is their coffee great, but their menu is to die for. I purchased a carrot cake to share, only to find that I had consumed the whole thing. The last time I had a carrot cake that was this moist with a perfect topping was about 5 years ago. Since then, no one has been able to reach those standards until now!
I noticed that Cranked had created a rail outside where you could hang your bike while you have coffee, breakfast, or lunch. Being within seconds of a bicycle path, and just on the outskirts of the city centre, I thought that this was a fantastic concept.
If you plan to visit Cranked, you can find parking in the rear parking lot. The first hour is for free, which gives you ample time to order and enjoy your coffee and lunch with your friends. Or, you can take a little ride down on your bike and then work off the extra calories on the way home. I sort of wished I had chosen the latter option as I drove away guiltily after consuming an amazing carrot cake.
However, how could I have known about this heavenly cafe had I not accidentally taken a detour down the bottom end of Oxford Street!
