Following on from Nicole Newman's Genaivisheh Shtiklech (Tricky Pieces) exhibition (still running till 9 Mar 2018, plus a Meet the Artist event on 1 Mar), here's a fun event to engage the kids to slow down, focus on, and explore the finer details and intricate forms of small bugs and animals.
Most kids are naturally curious about tiny critters and this drawing workshop is a great fun way to get up close and personal. Led by Justin Hinder, artist, curator and writer based in Melbourne, the event will be held at the Emerald Hill Library, 195 Bank St, South Melbourne on Saturday 3 March 2018 from 10.30am to 12pm. Cost is $15 per child, and it's suitable for kids of all ages and skill levels. Adult supervision is recommended for kids aged 6 and under. Get your tickets HERE.
At this workshop, the kids will use light to draw a critter outline, then, with a magnifying glass in hand, they'll colour, focusing on textures and minute details. Justin's background in leading other artistic events for kids and his story telling skills, holds him in good stead to make this a fun afternoon for the kids.
This event is hosted by Linden New Art, a unique not-for-profit contemporary art gallery, and all proceeds from this event goes to support the running of Linden, its future programs, exhibitions and events.
