On 1st & 2nd September 2018, artisan pie maker Shepherd's Bakehouse is teaming up with craft brewer Willie the Boatman to create a delectable Beef and Beer Pie made with Willie's small batch Oatmeal Stout!
That's right - pies, beer and mates on Father's Day weekend at a pop-up pie shop within Willie the Boatman's St Peter's brewery - it sure beats a new pair of socks!
What's in this moreish pie you ask? Well, the pie filling was created using Willie the Boatman's Oatmeal Stout, an intense, fruity dark beer which was a favourite of staff and customers at the brewery this winter. It also contains premium Aussie beef steak, carrots, mushroom, onions and herbs. It is made in a traditional pie (tinned) shape too, so Dad (and you) can easily devour it with one hand.
So how can you get your hot little hands on one of these limited-edition pies? Come on down to the pop-up pie shop within Willie the Boatman's St Peter's brewery on Father's Day weekend.
You'll need to be early as there are only 300 pies being handmade daily at the Bakehouse. It will be first come, first served on both Saturday and Sunday from 12pm.
If you'd like to come along, head to the Facebook page and click on the event to RSVP.
If you can't wait till Father's Day weekend, head to your nearest Shepherd's cafe from Wednesday 29th August and tuck into a hot ready to eat pie or stock up on take-home-and-bake packs of four. Why not pick up a pack on Friday arvo and pop them in the oven for a delicious Father's Day lunch!
The Beef & Beer will also be available at select Farmer's Market's on Father's Day weekend, including Carriageworks (where Shepherd's are foundation stallholders).
So that's Father's Day lunch sorted thanks to the creative folks at Shepherd's Bakehouse and Willie the Boatman! Find out more about the Craft Beer & Pie Pop-Up here. For more information on locations, products, ingredients and history, check out to www.shepherds.com.au
