My BFF and I went to the city recently with the intention of having a browse round the shops and to visit a few art galleries. However, all this went to pot when we stumbled across the Cow Parade map at the information centre in Forrest Chase.

We looked at the map and saw there were 40 cows to find and we had already seen one on the way out of the train station. So that left just 39 to find. We decided to locate all of them and park the shopping and art galleries until another day.

The map showed you the location of each cow and above the map was a key to give you the written location too, so there was no excuse not to find them all.

We walked from the iCity Visitor Service in Forrest Chase, where we picked up the map, and down to the Bell Tower, catching quite a few of cows on the way. We planned to get a selfie with every cow.

The CAT buses cover most of the routes where the cows are located and we planned our attack by riding the red CAT next and getting off near His Majesty's Theatre (where cow number 40 is) to capture as many as we could in one spot before getting back on the bus again.

We had only been searching for about an hour and we had found around 10 so we thought we would manage to find them all in a few hours. How wrong we were.

We then headed towards Northbridge on the blue CAT bus and this is where things started to fall apart. We got distracted by shops, lunch and then The Piazza (we stopped to watch something on the big screen).

We were shattered and had only found about 15. We felt totally defeated as we couldn't face getting on another bus. We vowed to come back to the city again to continue the hunt for the remaining cows. It seems an odd thing to say, but we have to find them all. Neither of us expected to get bitten by this bug and the need to find every single one of them; it's strangely addictive!

The cows that we found were all really well decorated and some told a story, whilst others were just fabulous art.

We ticked off the cows we had found as we went along and have kept the map for the next visit so we know where to continue the hunt. We do have a favourite so far — number 17 in Hay Street Mall.

There are six Community Cows for everyone to find and help decorate too. We were very excited about that as my BFF is an artist, but we didn't manage to get to those. That will be first on our list next visit.

There are community fun days running in conjunction with the Cow Parade with face painting and participation in other arts and crafts for the kids. The only one left to run is Saturday 19th November from 10am-3pm at Northbridge Piazza.

If you are wondering what to do this weekend with or without the kids, please consider the Cow Parade, you will hopefully enjoy it as much as we did. Please comment below about how many you found and how long it took. My tip: don't get distracted like we did and you will probably find them all.
