A perfect backdrop of the ocean view at dusk sets the scene for the Cowes Night Market, with stallholders selling everything from handmade soap, to puppets, to olive oil as well as boutique wines, internationally inspired cuisine and homestyle gourmet food.
My family and I stumbled across this market as we were staying the weekend on Philip Island and it was more like visiting a mini festival than a market. Live local music along the esplanade makes for a great atmosphere, along with the perfect mix of fresh produce, quality handicrafts, and great food. You can choose from many possible dinner options, possibly squeeze in some dessert and take home some treats home as well. There are also some great gift possibilities for yourself or others…even the dog.

While you're there you could get some henna done and have a caricature, the kids could have some face painting or check out the animal farm, or you could just dance to the music or watch the sun set across the beach. There's so much to see, do and buy, you'll be spoilt for options.
If you're thinking of heading to Philip Island in the Summer, this night market would be a great way to start a weekend away or just head to the beach for the day and finish with the night market before heading home well fed and entertained.
The market runs on selected Saturday evenings (5-9pm) between December and March, for more information check out the website. Market dates still to come include: Saturday 13th February, and the 12th and 26th March.
This market is only one of many things on offer at Phillip Island, there is so much on offer and donlt miss the other wonderful little towns on the Bass Coast - Grantville, The Gurdies, Coronet Bay, Corinella, Kilcunda, Inverloch and Wonthaggi to name a few. It is a superb place to visit.
