Second in the Bass Coast Series (the first being the
Cape Paterson Aquathon on 21 Jan 2018), and affectionately known as The Classics, the Cowes Classic and Phillip Island Penguin Swim Classic are all happening on Sat 3 February 2018.
Register here for the
Penguin Swim Classic which is a 600m fun swim or a 1.2km beach swim that starts at 10am, with great prizes on this community day.
Register here for the
Cowes Classic which begins at 3.30pm and consists of a 500m beach swim, plus a 4km run, and also has great prizes. Registering online is a lot cheaper than doing it on race day, not to mention it's hassle-free. Head to the
website for all details about the race, registration and its cut off date, cost, not to mention entrant categories, prizes and rules and regulations.
This event is the second leg of the three part Bass Coast Series and a major fundraiser for not-for-profit and volunteer organisations Cape Paterson SLSC, Woolamai Beach SLSC and Phillip Island Football Netball Club. All monies raised support volunteer beach patrols and local communities. These events are also great opportunities for fitness, aquathon, biathlon and swimming enthusiasts, with the bonus of being able to leave the hustle and bustle of the city, with a Phillip Island escape.
Whether you're looking to challenge yourself, or simply have fun, the Classics Weekend covers it all. If you're looking for just a bit of fun or a smaller challenge, the 800m fun swim on the Phillip Island Penguin Swim Classic Day is the one for you. Everyone can have a go and it's a good intro to open water swimming. Covering the distance is made easier thanks to the tide assisted swim, so go ahead and have a crack. Have a look at
the course so you know what you're up for, and get your details from the
website .
