I was traipsing along the streets of West End with my friends not wanting the reality of the arduous week to set in we found a blue door leading to a hidden tranquility haven - Courtyard Conspiracy.


[BREAK] Courtyard Conspiracy is an up and coming free weekly affair for Brisbane groovers. It has a little something for every soul. The night is a compilation of local art and music, meeting new friends, jamming, dancing and enjoying chai tea. All in all a great escape from the harsh week ahead.


Last Monday I ventured behind the blue door and along the moonlit path to the mystical courtyard. Blue fairy lights were scattered all around and I was greeted by the armoa of chai and smiling faces. Couches, chairs and places to sit scattered the courtyard.

After enjoying some delicious chai tea (at the small fee of $2 a cup) my friends and I went inside and were greeted with a room filled with treasures for the eyes. We indulged in beautiful local art. The artists are generally present at the event so you can discuss their pieces with them or make a purchase.

As the night grew on the first musical act Ofa Fanaika took the stage. The beautiful music brought the crowd to a silence. Accomplishing a slow clap Ofa blew the socks off the audience with such a hauntingly beautiful voice accompanied by a brilliant authenticity.

The conversations and chai drinking erupted again in the break, giving people a chance to meet more people, enjoy the art or grab a bite to eat.

The final performance of the night was The Mouldy Lovers . They brought their usual flair and were embraced by a dancing crowd. They joined in the dancing as always and entered the crowd to play on the couches and chairs. It was a spectacular performance leaving the crowd hot, sweaty and full of excitement. Another dose of chai, chats, jamming and art brought the wondrous night to a creative close.
