I'm a mother of four with two coeliac children. I'm always on the lookout for great gluten-free spots around Brisbane and feature gluten-free cooking in my blog: coeliacfamily.blogspot.com.au
I'm also a muso and enjoy live music around town.
You don't usually see the words art and rugby in the same sentence, but this week these two very different activities will combine forces in a fundraising art auction to help a young rugby talent from Logan fulfil his dreams of becoming an international star.
Saita Lasini-Tuaoi's dream as a young child was to play professional rugby. Now, at age nineteen, Saita has been given an opportunity to trial for professional rugby teams in France for six weeks in order to secure a contract to further his rugby career. If successful, Saita will be residing in France to play professionally. Originally from a small town in New Zealand, Saita has resided in Brisbane with his Uncle & Aunty for the past year and has been selected for the Elite Training Squad based in Logan. Through the leaders and mentors of Elite, Dominic & Pearl Feaunati recommended he play for the MANA Pasifika rugby team. Saita was a stand-out player for MANA last year, hence has been given the opportunity to travel to France.

The art exhibition fundraiser will be a group exhibition with silent auctions. Each piece has a reserve as the starting bid. If you are after a particular piece just write down your name, contact details and bid under the last entry. The winning bid at the end of the weekend will buy the piece. All monies paid go to fundraising to pay for Saita's return airfare to France.
Artwork by Deep Fried Theory Will Be Part Of The Auction
The works on display and up for auction are by local artists, including Saita's Uncle Alex Tuaoi and other emerging artists who have not previously exhibited their art work to the general public. A wishing well will be available at the gallery, and there will be a raffle sponsored by local businesses which will be drawn on opening night. For those who may not be able to attend the gallery exhibition images and reserves will be available online via the Art & Design Precinct Facebook page for placement of bids. For those wishing to make a donation to this great cause, there are bank details available upon request.
