I'm a student living in Sydney though like to adventure the surrounds up north, down south and to the east and west. From bustling cities, pristine beaches, misted mountains and rolling countrysides I like to be well traveled.

From alpacas to vineyards to pubs, Hunter region has it all
Countryside Escape to the Hunter

About a 2 hour drive from the Sydney city lies the Hunter region, a beautiful scene of rolling hills and green pastures. From Sydney via route 33, you can experience the transformation of scenery from highways and skyscrapers to dirt roads and wineries.

Laguna

As you head up north via Great North Road, you may come across the small town of Laguna. Not known for much more than a residential town of Cessnock, it holds a great cafe for a pit stop. The Great Northern Trading Post is a bar, a cafe and a general store all in one rustically charming setting.

Open 7 days a week, the Great Northern Trading Post is a great pit stop for breakfast, lunch or dinner. They serve delicious foods from cafe style to pub style and also entertain guests with live music.

Starline Alpaca Farm Stay
For the night we stayed over at the Starline Alpaca Farm Stay Resort which was a unique countryside experience. The accommodation was set on an alpaca farm with currently over 200 alpacas of different breeds.

They offer a hands on experience of farm life in which guests are able to feed not only the alpacas but the chickens, pigs, rabbits and guinea pigs.

The waterfront cottage we stayed in was beautiful, exceeding expectations. From the balcony we had the view of the lake and the grazing alpacas on the hillside. The farm stay had wonderful accommodating staff, a tranquil atmosphere and an overall beautiful experience with the farm animals.
