Traditional, wholesome, country-fresh fun; The Burwood Branch of the Country Women's Association of Victoria are hosting their Open Day on Saturday 18th June 2016, from 10am – 4pm in Glen Iris. This family friendly event will be a healthy mix of craft, food and antiques with free workshops and demonstrations from some of the best crafters and cooks the Country has to offer.

CWA Open Day Recipe

Take one FREE Crochet Workshop and heat until just warm. Watch and learn as these skilled artisans pass on their valuable crocheting knowledge. Bookings are highly recommended for these popular workshops as seats fill fast. There will be morning and afternoon sessions, with participants learning how to make an on-trend bracelet suitable for beginners and spike stitch crochet circles for those with more experience.

There will also be a free Everlasting Bottlebrush (Callistemon) making workshops running from 10am – 12noon. Once again, bookings are highly recommended.

Separate those less crafty among us and browse the stunning array of Everlasting Callistemon Bouquets available for purchase. Not everyone is gifted with a crochet hook or knitting needles and that's okay. You can still take home a lovely keepsake from the variety on offer.

Blend in free scone making demonstrations from 1.30pm to 3pm. Learn from the very best in the business. Nobody does scones like the Country Women's Association. If you haven't tried a CWA batch of scones, you have not tried scones!

Sample a batch or two of traditional CWA Devonshire Tea for only $5 a serve! You'll want more than one after that mouth-watering scone making demonstration. The CWA ladies will also be providing a selection of light lunches including homemade soup and sausage rolls, just like Nan used to make, again only $5 a serve. You won't get a better value lunch anywhere.

Purchase. Take home a little bit of CWA love. Homemade lemon butter, chutney, jams, sauces and baked goods will all be available for sale. Then learn how to make them yourself by purchasing a CWA recipe book.

Serve. Do you have some vintage treasure sitting on the mantelpiece? Inherited something unusual from Auntie Faye and always wondered what it was worth? Well wonder no more. Have your antiques appraised at the CWA Open Day. Valuations are prices at $5 for one item or $10 for three.

The is being held at the Burwood District Bowls Club, Burwood Reserve, Rear of 284 Warrigal Road, Glen Iris on Saturday 18th June 2016 from 10am to 4pm. Everyone is welcome and general admission is $3 with children under 16 years of age free.
