It's only small, but it's very popular. I pass it frequently and rarely is there no children and their parents enjoying the facilities.


Visitors would be mainly locals as the usual mode of arrival is in pushers. As local mothers often congregate for a get together while watching their charges at play.


There are ample seats and a couple of picnic tables, which are often used, and mostly in the shade when the sun is out.


All ages are catered for with play equipment for swinging, sliding, and climbing. Most playgrounds these days have soft landing areas under all activities should there be a fall while swinging, sliding or climbing.






For those who have outgrown the play equipment, there is a basketball hoop to practice their goal shooting.


A large expanse of grass allows ball games to be played, or just to run around.


The area is well maintained by the Yarra Ranges Council with the grass regularly mowed and a nice landscaped area around the play area which adds to the ambience.


Native shrubs and trees have been planted around the perimeter to visually shield the houses and the kindergarten that back onto the reserve. Many birds are noticed flitting through the trees, rarely pausing.




The playground would be just one of hundreds around the suburbs, mainly for the enjoyment of local residents.


Country Club Drive leads to the Chirnside Park Country Club Bistro. Stop on the way for the kids to work up an appetite, or on the way back to work off dessert.

If you are passing the reserve any children on board may exclaim, "We are there," so stop and give them a play, maybe on equipment they have not experienced before.
