Adelaide's Best Tasting and Possibly Most Unusual Chocolates
I was once told that the best handmade chocolates are found at The Chocolate Box at Melbourne Airport. Adelaide residents don't need to travel that far. You can find luscious handcrafted chocolates at Cottage Box Chocolates.

Cottage Box Chocolates is a pleasant drive down the freeway at Murray Bridge.

Here they sell the most delicious and unusual flavours Eggnog Ganache, Tiger Praline and Vegemite Fudge.

Vegemite Fudge

Yes, you read that correctly. Vegemite and chocolate combined. Salted caramels have taken the world by storm with their superb balance of salt and sweet, but if you want to try something really different, Cottage Box Chocolates may be the only place you will find this very Australian twist on chocolate.

Where can you find Vegemite Fudge?

Vanilla Caramel Ganache would have to be one of my favourites.

First they dazzle you with their luminous colours and then they melt in your mouth. I am also very partial to the salted caramel hearts. So are a few other people. They were sold out on the day I visited.

Ian Pithers, the owner, is committed to using top quality local ingredients where ever possible. Murray River pink salt flakes, Mypolonga apricots for dipping and 'Obsession' coffee for espresso truffles, combine with the finest Swiss chocolate for the best tasting results.

Expect to find new delicacies each time you visit. Ian has just recently returned from a weekend at Savour Chocolate and Patisserie School in Bruswick, Victoria. He showed me one of his new creations that looks just like zebra hide. Visitors can sometimes watch through the glass window into the factory and see the chocolates being created.

Another new line are the milk and dark chocolate blocks that feature the famous Bridge and would be a well appreciated gift; if you can get them home.

Id like to try the eggnog chocolate. I'm also curious about what's in the tiger praline.

I tried the new Eggnog Ganache the other day. It seemed a pity to eat a work of art, but it tasted sensational!!
