The weekend getaway just got better
Camping is one of my favourite things to do, and when my wife decided to try our hands at glamping, I wasn't sure how my outdoor spirit would warm up to the idea. Our glamping excursion was at Cosy Tents in the spa capital of Australia, Daylesford, and it turned out to be a very, very relaxing experience.

Cosy Tents is a glamourous set-up that combines the luxury of a hotel and the spirit of the outdoors to give you an intimate getaway, it is the perfect place to escape the confusion of modern life and recharge the batteries to your soul.

The campsite consists of 8 tents, which have ample space in-between them to give you privacy while you glamp. There is also a kitchen/BBQ area and access to a communal fire pit for some adventurous cooking. All cooking utensils, pans, plates, bowls, cups, cutlery and wine glasses are also included. There is milk too, in the communal Esky.

The glamping life

We were fortunate enough to glamp under a clear starry night, which made the experience of sitting at the fire pit immensely enjoyable. Staring at the billions of stars that night did make us appreciate the simple things in life, the stars put on a show for free every night and yet we take it for granted. We did however forget to take marshmallows with us, don't make that mistake.

The tents do live up to their name, you get a warm fuzzy feeling when you step inside. The 5 metre bell tents have a full queen size bed and the 4 metre bell tents have double size beds. A 26L Esky is provided to keep food and drinks cool, and there is also a battery powered 240 volt power point and 12 volt USB power supply that is available to charge small devices such as mobile phones, for when you need to get your social media fix and brag about your amazing glamping experience.

The shared toilet and shower facility is so spacious and elegantly designed, you feel like you've just excused yourself from the table at a fancy restaurant to answer a call of nature, I'm not exaggerating, the toilet is really classy. Another two showers/toilets are being built so you wouldn't have to wait in line.

The campsite

The massive property gives you the option of having a relaxing stroll and maybe bumping into some of the wildlife. If you fancy a read or maybe a board game, the main tent (reception) has a selection of books and games to keep you occupied.

I truly enjoyed the glamping lifestyle, it was nice to feel luxurious while living outdoors. If you're looking for an escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, this is the place for you.

The exact location doesn't show up on a GPS, so follow these directions or look at the map I've tagged. When you get to Daylesford via the M8 and C141, from the main roundabout turn right into Central Springs Rd, then make a left onto East St. You'll come to Knox St, go straight past it, which now becomes Midland Hwy. Continue on for about 11km until you come to Daylesford-Newstead Rd, which will be on your left, just after Mount Franklin. Continue down Daylesford-Newstead Rd for about 4km and the road sign 'KANGA RD' will be on your right. Drive down the gravel road until you come to Cosy Tents.
