The day is Thursday May 29, 2014 and all day I have been hearing whispers and rumours about the giant that has overtaken North Lakes. Newspapers and radio stations are all reporting on it, people even slept out overnight to catch a glimpse of it (insert mysterious music here).
And so, having been overcome with intrigue, I travelled to the northern suburb of North Lakes and there on the horizon, I see it in all it's warehouse glory... Costco!
And does it live up to all the hype? Yes, it sure does!
I thought there would be a lot of brands I've never heard of, but surprisingly, I saw everything from Canon to Sorbent, to Huggies to Cartier watches!
Whilst the line at the membership counter to sign up was as long as the Brisbane river, some had already signed up online and then it was only a quick I.D. check, a photo and off we went into the brand new warehouse.
The aisles were wide and stocked to the ceiling. There are also plenty of opportunities to try some of the food with little taste testing stands set up around the store. You could easily spend a couple of hours here.
This is a membership based warehouse and the annual membership is $60 but don't let that scare you off. Costco has a good refund policy whereby if you're not satisfied, they'll refund your full membership fee.
Also, due to the fact there are no dressing rooms to try on those Levi's (to help keep costs down), the Costco refund policy is pretty good. If it doesn't fit, just bring it back!
