How to murder your twin brother before he murders you

Corpse directed by Nathan Schulz

Corpse is set at Christmas-time in London, 1936 and features the eccentric, unemployable actor, Evelyn and his twin, wealthy businessman, Rupert. Both roles are played by Dean Mayer who does a fine job of juggling two very different personalities without skipping a beat.

Evelyn, who is wildly resentful of his wealthy brother's fortune, plots to have him murdered so that he can take over his identity for the sole purpose of acquiring his money. He lures Major Ambrose Powell, played by Thian Sykes, to do the dirty deed knowing that the retired alcoholic Major is in desperate need of money, and his shady past makes him the perfect set-up.

Major Ambrose Powell

What do I want you to do? I want you to murder me!' It sounds like the ramblings of a madman. But who's insane and who's who? Is Evelyn, Rupert, or is Rupert, Evelyn? Is the Major a Sergeant, or is he an imposter?

Hawkins

There are bodies dropping everywhere double murders, impersonations, imposters and the delightful, tipsy, widowed cougar, Mrs McGee, played by Cecile Campbell. In desperate need of some loving, with a side order of rent money, Mrs McGee relentlessly pursues the affections of Evelyn, only to be continuously rejected. There is nothing more disturbing than being rejected by a corpse wrapped in a sheet as he's flung about the room by the panicked murderer who is desperately trying to cover his tracks.

Evelyn & Ambrose - Corpse

Corpse is mayhem at its best. It's outrageous, and even downright evil. You'll be jumping out of your skin as gun shots are fired. The smell of Russian pancakes smothered in onions, caviar and sour cream fill the air as Evelyn cooks a not so gourmet lunch on stage. The climax is a spectacular sword fight and more dead bodies.

Corpse directed by Nathan Schulz

Nathan Schulz has done an outstanding job directing Corpse. His vision for Corpse began 12 months ago and his passion for theatre has resulted in a sensational show that quickly gains momentum and has the audience on the edge of their seat.

Set of Corpse, Gold Coast Little Theatre

Award winner, Darren Campbell did a superb job designing the set of Corpse which features both Evelyn's shabby apartment and Rupert's more elaborate apartment. There are plenty of doors, a revolving bar, a secret cupboard and nooks and crannies to hide a corpse in.

The music soundtrack is perfectly matched to the era and enhances the ambience.

You're in for an old fashioned treat, but be careful, you just might die laughing.
