Three hours of art therapy and a nice glass of red is a great way to unwind and end the week or commence your weekend! Cork & Chroma is the latest paint-and-sip studio to hit Melbourne, right in the heart of creative Collingwood.
Each session in the studio gives you an opportunity to paint a theme, tap into your creative juices and bring out the artist in you and your friends!!
I was really looking forward to painting the Japanese Torrii gates reflecting over the water. With Mount Fuji in the distance and the cherry blossom season in full bloom, which happens to be the best time to visit Japan besides Autumn. Visit the Cork & Chroma website for their current studio calendar as there are sessions for day or evening classes on weekends!
Chloe, our gorgeous tutor, demonstrated step by step painting techniques, brushes sizes to use and colours to mix. I accidentally dipped my paintbrush into my glass of bubbly and no, I didn't have too much to drink ... or maybe I did, that's why I couldn't get my Torii poles straight?
Halfway through the session, Chloe offered cheese platters for purchase with a selection of cheese boards from the local wine & cheese bar Smithward, located a couple of doors down from the studio. This went down well with our glass of bubbly white wine - painting, sipping and singing to 70s & 80's classics from the likes of Lionel Richie, ABBA, and there might have been some Whitney Houston in there, but honestly, can't remember. Maybe I had too much wine?
