If you go down in the woods today, you're sure of a big surprise!
But no, you won't find teddy bears having a picnic. Instead, you'll find a spectacular alpine slide that winds its way through majestic mountain ash forest. And it's right here in Canberra.
Welcome to the magic that is Corin Forest.
Corin Forest is located in Namadgi National Park, south west of Canberra along the Corin Road. During the winter months, Corin Forest is a wonderland of snow. It's not winter yet, but Corin Forest is still a wonderland for you and your family to enjoy. And yes, I'm sure that teddy bears will love it here too! Here are five reasons why you should visit Corin Forest this weekend.
1. The alpine slide.
This spectacular slide descends 1.2km down a mountain ash forest. And its lots of fun for both kids and grown ups alike. Children 8 years and above can ride their own toboggans while children below 8 ride free of charge with a paying adult. At the time of writing, ticket prices are $10 for a single ride, $15 for two rides, $35 for six rides, and $50 for ten rides. Purchase your tickets on site.
2. The lodge.
The main lodge is a lovely place to relax after a hard morning or afternoon of zooming down the slide! Grab a bite to eat at the café, play some board games, or relax on the outside deck while breathing in the cool autumn scents of the forest and soaking up the sunshine.
3. Feast on delicious woodfired pizzas.
There's nothing quite like feasting on fresh, just made, warm, wood fired pizzas with their unique, smoky flavour. Enjoy your pizzas in the café, on the outside deck of the lodge, or in the outdoor picnic area.
4. Enjoy a picnic.
You are welcome to use the picnic tables and fire pits scattered throughout Corin Forest's outdoor picnic area. Even the teddy bears would love to have their picnic here too!
Finally,
5. Roast marshmallows on the open wood fire inside the lodge.
When the weather gets cooler, an open wood fire will burn in the centre of the lodge. Just perfect for roasting marshmallows! You can purchase marshmallows at the café or bring your own.
