Let it snow, let it snow in Canberra! Thanks to the low-pressure weather systems brewing in the skies above us from the Antarctic or what one meteorologist described as the
Antarctic Blob , this month has been a winter wonderland in our Bush Capital. And there's no better place to experience it than at Corin Forest.
Conveniently located just a short drive out of Tuggeranong, is the perfect place to enjoy the snow with your family without having to go all the way to the snowfields at Thredbo or Perisher. And you don't even need to book your accommodation either!
There are three kinds of activities on offer at Corin Forest:
Snowsports School,
Ski Ride, and the hugely popular
Snowplay.
Snowsports School offers ski and snowboard lessons for all abilities from ages 8 plus. All lessons include everything you need to hit the slopes, a lesson led by a professional instructor, and free time at the end of the lesson to master your technique. Snowsports school will be operating until
September 7, 2020.
Ski Ride is currently open for guests who already know how to ski or snowboard. The ski slope will remain open until
September 7, 2020.
SnowPlay is an area that's been designed specifically for tobogganing, building snowmen and throwing snowballs at one another! It's a fun zone for the entire family. Snowplay sessions are currently limited to 100 people per session. These will be 2 hours long to ensure plenty of time between sessions. Snowplay tickets are $20 per person and must be booked online in advance. Toboggans and snow boots are also available for hire. The Snowplay zone will continue to operate until
October 11, 2020.
After your exciting day in the snow and ice, you and your family can then head down to the cosy Corin Forest lodge for some delicious woodfired pizza!
Because of COVID-19, is operating a little differently to past years. For example, certain clothing items cannot be hired this year, and there's no marshmallow toasting over the lodge's open fireplace(to my great disappointment!). But despite these restrictions, you and your family will still experience a true winter wonderland and all of it just a short drive away from the centre of Canberra.
Please visit the website
here for more information and to book your tickets for Snowsports, Ski Ride and Snowplay.
Corin Forest has extended its season (Snowplay will be operating until October 11) so book your tickets now if you haven't yet been to Canberra's winter wonderland.
