One of downsides of being my friend is that getting me to go out on a school night is hard work. It's not easy to sway me from my typical foot shuffle followed by 'Err... How about we catch up on the weekend instead?'

However on Thursday night my friend managed to sway me to dine out by claiming conflicting weekend schedules and the promise to meet her new someone. I am well aware that to have friends you need to be a friend but if I was going to be out on a weeknight to interrogate, wait sorry did I say interrogate? I meant meet my friend's new other, I was going to need PIZZA.

I have had my eye on Corbett and Claude for a couple of weeks. Mostly because they had built unusual metal cages out the front of the restaurant and frankly I was intrigued. They were too large for birds cages or wine racks…perhaps they were going to build a hedge for privacy?

Soon after they opened on Station Road in Indooroopilly the mystery of the metal cages was revealed. They were shelves for potted greenery. The wall of pot plants looks nice enough although I strongly feel it should be a hedge. I know, I know, it would take a while to grow but C&C (Can I call you C&C?) it would look awesome.

I discovered that Corbett and Claude was named after their soon to be opened City Restaurant, which will be located at the century old Corbett Chambers Building.

The name is etched in history as being the meeting place of travellers that would gather to eat, drink and tell stories of their adventures before moving on. Now it was sounding like my kind of place, who doesn't like food, beverages and good conversation? Yes please.

The menu screams sharing is caring, they offer a build your own charcuterie board with a selection of tasty accompaniments. What does that mean? That means that for five dollars per piece you can create the mother of all cheese boards. Ours was amazing. I am now longing for another cheese platter and wine night sometime in the very near future.

I feel like we need to talk about the crispy chicken bites, it doesn't sound right, they weren't JUST Crispy Chicken bites, they were the 'Where have you been all my life' kind of Crispy Chicken Bites.

Corbett and Claude's pizza was nothing short of a flavour punch to your soul. After the Chicken Bites and the Cheese platter we knew it was going to be a battle to get through the pizza but we left no slice behind. You will be happy to hear that the also do takeaway pizza!

I recommend Corbett and Claude for the beer and pizza lovers and the cheese and wine crowd. Oh don't you worry your little sweet tooth about dessert. How does a dessert pizza with nutella, hazlenuts & strawberries sound or perhaps waffles with toasted honey ice cream, salted caramel and honeycomb? Add to that an acoustic guitar player singing in the background and the scene is set.

In the end it was just the two of us for dinner so we clearly over ordered, the menu making our eyes bigger than our belly.
That was the only negative of the night, which is saying something because I was looking for nits to pick. All I found was a very pleasant dining experience and excellent customer service from all involved.

Click here for the Corbett & Claude Menu and keep in mind that it is a pay by card only venue.

I am left with no choice but to quote the rather large Arnold Schwarzenegger and leave you with a promise 'I will be back'
